Add a watermark to a PDF.

Mark a document as a draft, a confidential copy, or as yours before it goes out. Type the words, pick how they sit on the page, and every page is stamped in seconds — without the file ever leaving your device.

  • The watermark is added on your device — your PDF never leaves it
  • Diagonal, straight or tiled, in the strength you choose
  • Text and images underneath stay sharp — nothing is re-rendered

How it works.

  1. 1Drop a PDF into the box above.
  2. 2Type the watermark — CONFIDENTIAL is filled in to start — and choose diagonal, straight or tiled.
  3. 3Pick the strength and the colour. Light keeps the page easy to read; Strong is hard to miss.
  4. 4Tap Add watermark and download the stamped PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Why watermark a document in the browser?

Because the documents people watermark are the ones they least want to hand over: contracts, ID copies, unreleased reports. Here the PDF is read and stamped by your own browser, so there is no upload and no copy on anyone’s server.

Which layout should I use?

Diagonal is the classic “DRAFT” across the middle of the page. Straight runs level across the centre, which suits a name or a short notice. Tiled repeats smaller text over the whole page, which makes it much harder to crop or cover up.

Will the watermark make my text harder to read?

At Light or Medium strength the stamp sits behind the reading experience: the page stays legible and prints cleanly. Use Strong for copies where the warning matters more than comfort, such as ID documents shared for one purpose.

Can someone remove the watermark?

A determined person with a PDF editor can, because it is added as text on top of the page. To bake it into the page itself, run the watermarked file through Compress PDF afterwards — that rebuilds each page as an image, with the watermark part of the picture.

Can I use Hindi or other non-Latin text?

Not yet. The built-in PDF font covers Latin letters, numbers and common symbols, and the tool will tell you if your text includes anything else.
