Frequently asked questions
- Why do my iPhone photos come out as HEIC?
- Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default because it halves the file size at the same quality. The catch is that many websites, Windows PCs, and older apps can’t open it — which is why converting to JPG is so often needed.
- Will converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
- At the default 90% quality the difference is invisible for normal photos. If you need a pixel-perfect copy, choose PNG — it’s lossless, though the files are larger.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. The converter is downloaded to your browser and runs on your device. Your photos never leave your phone or computer — you can even switch to airplane mode after the page loads.
- Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?
- Yes — drop in as many as you like and convert them in one go, then use Download all to save every JPG.
- What about Live Photos or bursts?
- A HEIC file can contain more than one image. If yours does, you’ll get a numbered JPG for each frame inside it.
