Blur or hide part of an image.
Settings
Use Black box for text such as ID or card numbers — it leaves nothing behind to sharpen.
Drag across the photo to mark what to hide.
Before a photo goes into a group chat, a listing or a complaint, hide what strangers should not see. Drag over the face, the number plate or the account number, and it is blurred, pixelated or blacked out — on your own device.
- Your photo is edited on your device — it is never uploaded
- The hidden part is gone from the pixels, not covered by a layer
- Saved without the photo’s location and camera metadata
How it works.
- 1Drop a photo into the box above.
- 2Drag across each thing you want hidden. Add as many areas as you need; Undo takes the last one back.
- 3Choose Pixelate, Blur or Black box — the preview shows the real result as you go.
- 4Tap Hide and save, then download the cleaned photo.
Frequently asked questions
Pixelate, blur or black box — which is safest?
For text — an Aadhaar, PAN or card number, an address, a password — use Black box. Pixelated or blurred text can sometimes be partly reconstructed by software that tries every likely letter. For faces and number plates, Pixelate or Blur is enough and looks less heavy-handed.
Can someone undo the blur on the saved photo?
No. The hidden areas are rebuilt from a handful of averaged pixels and written into the image itself; the original detail is not stored anywhere in the file, unlike an editor layer that can be switched off.
Why should I blur a photo here rather than in a chat app’s editor?
Because the unblurred photo never leaves your phone or computer. Doing it in an online editor usually means uploading the original first — the very thing you were trying to keep private.
Is the photo’s location removed too?
Yes. Saving the edited picture writes a fresh file, so GPS location, camera details and dates from the original are not carried over.
