Convert a PDF to text.
Settings
Works on PDFs made from Word, a browser or any app that saves real text. A scanned page is a picture of text, so it has nothing to extract — the result tells you which pages those are.
Copying text out of a PDF one page at a time is slow and mangles the line breaks. Drop the file in and get every page’s text in a single plain .txt you can paste, search or edit anywhere.
- Text is read out by your browser — the PDF stays on your device
- Keeps the line breaks, and marks where each page starts
- Tells you which pages are scans with no text to extract
How it works.
- 1Drop a PDF into the box above.
- 2Leave “Mark where each page starts” on if you want to find your place again later.
- 3Tap Extract text. The PDF is read by your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- 4Download the .txt file and open it in any editor, or paste it where you need it.
Frequently asked questions
Why did some pages come out empty?
Those pages are almost certainly scans: a photo of a printed page, saved inside a PDF. They contain a picture of text rather than text itself, so there is nothing to extract — the result card tells you how many pages that applies to.
Is the formatting kept?
Line breaks and the order of the text are kept; fonts, bold, columns and tables are not, because a .txt file is plain text. That is usually exactly what you want for pasting into an email, a form or a document of your own.
Will it work with Hindi or other languages?
Yes, as long as the PDF stores real text. The file is saved as UTF-8, which every modern editor opens correctly in any script.
Is it safe for a bank statement or a contract?
Yes. The PDF is opened and read inside your own browser, so the document and the text taken from it never reach a server.
