Compress a PDF to 1 MB.
Settings
Pages are rebuilt as high-resolution images — ideal for scans and photos. Text stays readable but can no longer be selected or searched.
One megabyte is the most common cap on application portals and many email systems. At that budget even a multi-page scan keeps clearly readable text.

Frequently asked questions
Is 1 MB enough for a 20-page scan?
Usually, yes. A megabyte spread over 20 pages is about 50 KB a page, which keeps typed text sharp. Very long documents, or pages full of photos, may land a little over — the result card shows the real size before you download.
Which forms use a 1 MB limit?
A great many: job and university applications, visa and passport services, scholarship and exam forms, and plenty of HR systems. The exact figure varies, so check the form itself — if it allows 2 MB, you have room to spare.
My PDF has several documents in it. Can I shrink just one part?
Take the part you need out first with Split PDF, then compress that smaller file here. Fewer pages share the same 1 MB, so each one stays sharper.
